53 bikes found their forever homes!

For decades, the quintessential gift to receive on Christmas morning for children of all ages has been a shiny new bike. Thanks to the hard work and support of our Lions, this year 53 children are proud owners of a new bike. For months, Lion volunteer elves have been fixing, restoring, cleaning, and polishing dozens of mostly adult donated bicycles. We sell the refurbished bicycles, and the monies generated are used to purchase brand-new bicycles for kids.

Volunteers included: Rick Thomas (chair), Sam Swisher, Lee Reighart, Mike Heslop, John Cathcart, Jim Herbold, Jimmy Lee, and non-Lion Bob Rayfield.

According to Rick Thomas, “We’re always looking for volunteers to help refurbish or cleanup the bicycles.”

Volunteer, John Cathcart says, “The many hours of hard work we all took part in has a wonderfully satisfying conclusion: a child who probably would never have had a bicycle to ride, woke up on Christmas morning and found a brand new bike with his or her name on it.”
