Another Successful Bikes for Kids Program

Just before Christmas, several members of our Club delivered 32 brand new bicycles to the Boys and Girls Club of York County and three new bicycles to the Clover School District. In addition, due to a devastating fire experienced by a family with five children in Rock Hill, we donated four bikes and a tricycle to the Red Cross, who then provided the bikes to the children along with three others delivered to a needy family in Clover.
A special thank you goes to our local Walmart Store and manager Russell Sinclair for their generous contribution through the Walmart Foundation. These funds, including those from the sales of refurbished adult bicycles, grew to more than $4,000 to buy new bicycles for Christmas gifts. Many thanks to the River Hills EMS for providing the work-space needed to refurbish the used bikes.
Shout outs to following Lions who make this program possible: Chairperson Rick Thomas, Sam Swisher, Mike Heslop, Lee Reighart, Jimmy Lee, Lloyd McMillan, Frank Tucker and Ken Middleton. We will continue to accept bike donations throughout the year, so keep us in mind if you have gently used bikes that you no longer need.
