How We Serve
Lions focus efforts to eight global causes
-
Lions work to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the quality of life for people with diabetes.
-
They organize diabetes screenings, support groups, and diabetes awareness “Strides” events (walks, runs, etc.).
-
They also support diabetes camps for youth to help them learn about disease management.

-
Environmental sustainability is a key focus. Lions engage in activities like tree planting, recycling campaigns, clean-up initiatives, and environmental education.
-
They recognize that a healthy environment is foundational for healthy communities.

-
Lions aim to improve food security and ensure access to nutritious food in communities.
-
Projects may include food drives, partnerships with food banks, community gardens, or other ways to reduce food deprivation.

-
Lions support children and families affected by cancer.
-
They fundraise, partner with hospitals, provide support services, and create programs to improve the lives of pediatric cancer patients and survivors.

-
One of the oldest priorities of Lions — in fact, Helen Keller challenged Lions in 1925 to be “knights of the blind.”
-
Lions work to prevent avoidable blindness, restore sight where possible, provide vision screenings, eyeglasses, and support for visually impaired people.
- They also run eye-banking programs, which help in storing eye tissue for sight-restoring surgery.

-
Lions respond to natural disasters by offering immediate aid and long-term recovery support.
-
More broadly, they help address urgent humanitarian needs around the world.
-
Lions support youth through programs, leadership opportunities, and by working with Leos (the youth branch of Lions) to nurture the next generation.
